State Board of Equalization Informational Hearing on Property Tax Relief Solutions for Fire Victims
Sacramento – State Board of Equalization Member Antonio Vazquez announced that he and the Board will host an Informational Hearing on Wildfire Relief Legislation and Solutions on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the May Lee State Office Complex, 651 Bannon Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, to take testimony and input from legislators and assessors on efforts underway to provide relief and recovery to victims of the January 2025 windstorm and wildfire disaster in Los Angeles County. The hearing will give the Board and the public information on property tax relief actions currently moving forward and an opportunity to discuss other initiatives that may be needed to boost recovery efforts and relief to victims.
"We have invited legislative leaders and the Los Angeles County Assessor with the experience, the know-how, and the commitment to help the Board to support actions and push for additional assistance to the people and communities devastated by these fires. We want them to be able to rebuild and not be burdened by property tax problems or future increases," said Member Vazquez.
Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang, Senators Ben Allen and Sasha Renée Pérez, and Assemblymember Celeste Rodriguez are the speakers scheduled for the February 19 informational hearing. Everyone is encouraged to attend and engage in the hearing at the May Lee State Office Complex either in person or remotely online at https://www.boe.ca.gov/meetings/. All questions, comments, or recommendations from the public are encouraged and should be submitted at https://www.boe.ca.gov/app/public-comments.aspx.
